The Blue Jackets elected to start Joonas Korpisalo, giving Sergei Bobrovsky the night off. The team was also without Nick Foligno, who missed the game for a personal matter.

The Boston Bruins opened the scoring early in the first behind a Patrice Bergeron power play goal.
