Game #67 Quickcap: Columbus Blue Jackets at Pittsburgh Penguins

The Columbus Blue Jackets needed a win against their arch-rivals, the Pittsburgh Penguins, in the worst of ways. Of course regarding the playoff picture, as the Jackets came in two points out of the second wild card and the Penguins leading the first wild card. I’m not even going to bother telling you how long it’s been since the last victory since I’ve already told you before — (it was 2017, Game 4 of the Quarterfinals).

Tonight, the rivalry resumed from Pittsburgh. Okay, let’s just cut the chit chat and say same ole same ole.

First Period

After a nice little spurt to start the game by Columbus, Pittsburgh converted on the first power play, seconds into the man-advantage. Phil Kessel with the goal, breaking a 17-game goalless drought. John Tortorella challenged for goaltender interference as Joonas Korpisalo was down in the crease but the goal stood. I mean, are you shocked?

1-0 Pens

Second Period

Nick Foligno and Garrett Wilson scrapped, with Wilson taking most of the damage when the tilt ended with himself taking a head full of ice.

As good as Korpisalo looked, Pittsburgh beat him in the closing minutes of the second period.  Nick Bjugstad scored his eighth of the season.

2-0 Pens

Third Period

Sidney Crosby empty-netter. Another loss. Moral victories don’t matter.

Full recap to come. This is your vent thread. Personal attacks won’t be tolerated, and comments will be closed in the morning.
