Player to Watch
Ivan Provorov
Zach Werenski has rightfully been receiving much praise this season (or, at least among Blue Jackets fans) for his stellar play. He leads the team in time on ice, leads the league in goals among defensemen, and has generally been an absolute workhorse for the Jackets. But Ivan Provorov has been flying under the radar with a decent season himself. He scored his second goal of the season to kick off the scoring vs New Jersey, and despite the occasional defensive lapse, has been a nice secondary defensive option behind Z. He played the first seven seasons of his NHL career with the Flyers, so we’ll see how he performs in his return.
The Other Bench
The Flyers are entering this one on a three-game losing streak. … This was also the case the last time these two teams played. The Flyers won that one 5-3. … Since that game on December 10, the Flyers beat the Red Wings 4-1, but let in 17 goals against the Wild, Kings, and Red Wings again.
