Detroit Red Wings, 10-10-3
The Columbus Blue Jackets, coming on the heels of a disappointing performance on Saturday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins, will look to get back to their winning ways against a surging Detroit Red Wings team that has turned things around. The Red Wings, 6-3-1 in their last ten, are moving up the standings and sit just four points out of a Wild Card position. Columbus, playing their third game in four nights, will look to Sergei Bobrovsky to steady the ship and carry them to a win as he has done so many times before.
Player to Watch
Dylan Larkin
Best friend of Zach Werenski, Dylan Larkin has been the key cog on the Red Wings offense. He is the only player the Wings can boast has 20 points on the season thus far (9-11-20) and is developing into a number one center for the Wings. At just 22 years old, and in his fourth professional season, Larkin is beginning to put it together. After putting up 63 points a year ago, Larkin is scoring at nearly a point per game pace and has posted a CF% of 54.6%. Larkin is maturing into a complete player for the Red Wings.
Jackets Notes
Columbus, by virtue of their loss to the Penguins on Saturday night, has slipped out of the division lead, falling behind the Washington Capitals ... Cam Atkinson scored in his seventh straight game Saturday night, tying a franchise record set by Geoff Sanderson in the 2002-03 season ... Since drawing into the lineup for the healthy scratched Oliver Bjorkstrand, Lukas Sedlak has one assist and an even rating in 8:25 per game ... Columbus is on pace for 101 points this season ... Columbus has lost to Pittsburgh six straight times, dating back to the playoff series in 2016-17.
The Other Bench
Detroit comes into the game following a shootout loss to the red-hot Buffalo Sabres ... The Red Wings allowed multiple power play goals while going 0-4 on their own power play chances in that Buffalo game ... Jimmy Howard stopped 5 of 7 shooters in the shootout ... The Red Wings are 2 for their last 23 on the power play in their last 10 games.
