Pardon the pun in the thread title, but tonight the Jackets-debuting their new cannon-themed thirds-are going for first place in the Western Conference. They take on the Red Wings, the team currently sitting atop the West.
As far as early-season games go, this one is as important as it gets. It’s a statement game, in fact it’s a statement weekend as the teams meet again Sunday afternoon in Detroit. The Jackets need to show that they are for real.
Mase gets the start tonight, and Filatov is back in the lineup after sitting against the Isles. Marc Methot remains out, which concerns me a little. The Jackets will need all hands on deck, and I look for a big game from Sammy and Clarkie tonight.
Tonight also marks the debut of Boomer, the Jackets new mascot. Now, I don’t think he’s as bad as many make him out to be but he certainly is a little odd.The team is really going all-in with the cannon stuff, but as you can imagine we here at The Cannon certainly don’t mind that!
