Game 2: Sharks @ Jackets: Just When You Thought It Was Safe To Go Back To IKEA

The Jackets and Sharks go back at it for another bite at the apple today in Stockholm.

Yesterday, if you take away the slow start, we had a pretty damned good game. If the Jackets can get out of the gate hot, I think we’ll see some exciting hockey, despite San Jose having last change.

As you may have already heard, Jared Boll tweaked his back and is out today. Look for Chris Clark or Kyle Wilson to go in his place.

Kris Russell practiced with the team and has been listed as a game time decision, but it seems quite possible that he’ll be held out again to give him a full week to recover.

Steve Mason will go again in goal, while the Sharks are expected to start Antero Niittymaki.

Y’know who else had a surprisingly decent game? Marc Methot. I’m not totally sold on him, but after sleeping on last night, he was OK.

Coach Arniel spent part of today’s practice telling the 6-7-8 line that they need to step up, and it’s going to be a tougher game with them now that the Sharks have last change. Hopefully they’ll get more ice time if the team can stay out of the penalty box.

I believe the Jackets can win this game if they get off on the right skate today, but a good start is critical.
