Favorite Blue Jacket Tournament, Semifinal 1

Defining figures of the first decade

Note: Games 43 and 44 will close on Sunday at noon. Both semifinals will close voting at 11:00 p.m. on September 12.

Welcome to the Final Four of the Favorite Blue Jacket Tournament! The Expansion Era was all chalk, with Jody Shelley coming out on top. The next era had some early upsets from Antoine Vermette and Marc Methot, but followed course from there, with Rick Nash prevailing.

Semifinal 1: Jody Shelley vs. Rick Nash

Shelley:

Jody Shelley earned admirers for his fighting prowess, and in his retirement has earned a new set of fans as a television commentator. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Jody the player, but Jody the announcer gets top marks from me.

Round 4

Nash:

Rick Nash was the first true franchise player. He set all the franchise scoring records and dazzled the league with his combination of size and skill. Unfortunately it didn’t lead to much team success, and it was best for both sides for him to move on.

Round 3
Round 4

Fun Fact: Both players married women from Ohio and continued to make their offseason home in Columbus even after being traded. Do you think we’ll see Nash in the FSO booth at some point?
