The second round closes today with what should be two very difficult match-ups.
Round 2, Game 31: Seth Jones vs. Zach Werenski
Jones, D: 116 GP; 14 G; 48 A; 62 P
Round 1: Jones defeated Alexander Wennberg, 138-26
Werenski, D: 78 GP; 11 G; 36 A; 47 P
Notes: Werenski’s arrival had a huge impact on the Blue Jackets. He didn’t just have the greatest rookie season of any CBJ defensemen, he had one of the greatest rookie season of any CBJ skater, as well as one of the best seasons for any CBJ defenseman, period. Hard to believe he’s still not old enough to drink. He plays with maturity and poise beyond his years, to go with his skill.
Round 2, Game 32: Boone Jenner vs. Nick Foligno
Jenner, LW: 267 GP; 73 G; 56 A; 129 P
Round 1: Jenner defeated Oliver BJORKSTRAND 109-55. I hate all of you.
Foligno, LW: 345 GP; 93 G; 126 A; 219 P
Notes: Coming over from Ottawa in a straight-up trade for Marc Methot, Foligno’s game reached another level when he arrived in Columbus. He scored 31 goals and 73 points in 2015 to reach the All-Star Game and eventually earn the captaincy. After a rough season on and off the ice in 2016, he rebounded with a 26 goal/51 point season last year.
