Mother Nature played the “Trick” card on us in western Massachusetts today. A massive Nor’Easter slammed into the region, dumping 10″-20″ of snow in western parts of the Commonwealth. According to Fox 6 in Springfield, another 3-6″ by daybreak.
Nick Holden played the “Treat” card when for the second night in a row, the Falcons won in dramatic, overtime fashion as Holden blasted one home from the top of the left faceoff circle, giving the Springfield Falcons their second 4-3 overtime victory in as many nights.
Cam Atkinson got the scoring underway for the Falcons on a power play at 8:06 of the first period. Some nice puck movement in the offensive zone led to the goal with assists from Nick Drazenovic and Martin St. Pierre.

, for the second night in a row, showed some great puck control along the blue line. He then found Martin St. Pierre who fed Joudrey the biscuit, making the game 2-1 at the end of one period.
Danny Taylor was between the pipes for Springfield, starting his third consecutive game. Once again, Taylor was tested early and often, making key stops along the way. None more so, than in the second stanza when a busy Taylor turned away all 18 shots the IceCaps sent his way. After two periods, St. John’s held a 27-17 lead in shots on goal.
Jaffray potted his second marker of the night at the 8:26 mark of the third period, tying the game at 2.
Nick Drazenovic put the Falcons back in the lead at 16:27 on a nice set up by
. Both Drazenovic and Byers have been strong additions to the Falcons lineup in the early stages of the season thus far.
With goaltender
on the bench for a sixth attacker, St. John’s managed to tie the game with just 38 seconds remaining in regulation time, and would send the contest to overtime.
The win capped off a big week for the Falcons, with three games this week, and three wins. This was the second game of a six game homestand for the Birds, with a light week ahead as they play just one game; next Friday night when the Adirondack Phantoms come to The Nest for a 7:30PM faceoff. Following that, the Falcons are off until the following Friday, November 11th when they host the Portland Pirates.

Finally, after rejoining the lineup last night, Tomas Kubalik was back out of it tonight, possibly aggravating his previous injury. Also, despite scoring three points in three games, Ray Macias was released from his PTO.
