Does It Make Sense To Trade The 2nd Overall Pick?

It’s far from a done deal, but Aaron Portzline of the Dispatch is reporting that the Blue Jackets could trade the 2nd overall pick tonight.

With the chances of Nail Yakupov dropping to the Jackets becoming greater as scuttlebutt suggests that the Oilers will grab stud d-man Ryan Murray with the #1 pick, it’s worth considering, but this feels more like danging a line in the water than a solid plan.

Would Scott Howson make a deal to drop to, say, 4th or 5th overall if he’s seriously considering Alex Galchenyuk or Filip Forsberg? Possibly, especially if the right package is there, but it seems just as likely that the team is making noise to see what flushes out of the woodwork in the next few hours, and seeing just what kind of cards teams would be willing to put on the table for the opportunity to move up.

We discussed the possibility before and the feeling was “do whatever is necessary to improve the team”, but does your opinion change if it means letting Yakupov go in the process?

Would you be willing to trade the 2nd overall pick if Yakupov is available?
