After winning just three games in the month of November, the Cleveland Monsters were hoping to leave December with a winning record. Unfortunately, they took a  different path ending December with only two wins in 11 games.

They were shutout three times this past month. Which is nothing compared to the fact they allowed their opponent to score five goals against them in five different games. The opposition outscored the opponent 45-24.

Goalie Stats

With Brad Thiessen still out with an injury, Matiss Kivlenieks became the Monsters’ go-to goalie with Ivan Kulbakov as backup. Even though both goalies struggled a bit there is a lot to be excited about as they grow. Kulbakov and Kivlenieks are true rookies who are excited to take their playing to the next level.

December Leaders

In November Carter Camper led the team with seven points. For the month of December, he leads the team in points (8), assists (5 -tied with Zac Dalpe), and goals (3 – tied with Alex Broadhurst and Sam Vigneault). Dean Kukan and Camper led the Monsters with two power-play points.

Since coming to the Monsters, Carter Camper has been nothing but consistent on the ice.

Sam Vigneault was quite the surprise in December. His knack for being in the right place at the right time and scooping up rebounds finally paid off. By the end of the month, Vigneault racked up three goals and one assist. Two of those goals were scored when the Monsters fell to the Texas Stars in overtime on December 16th. His second goal of the night was the one that forced overtime.

He also treated fans to a fight during the Monsters’ win over the Iowa Wild on December 20th.
