Dano tears MCL, out 4-5 Weeks

Bad news out of Prague and the World Championships – Jackets forward Marko Dano has been injured playing for Team Slovakia. Reports indicate it’s a partial MCL tear in his right knee, and will need 4-5 weeks to heal. Porty is reporting that surgery won’t be required, which is the good news. Dano had a goal and 2 PIMs in five games during the tournament, with his team going 3-2-0 in the first round of play.

The injury bug isn’t quite done with this team yet, it seems. The upside of an injury right now is that Dano will probably be ready to resume his offseason training / conditioning by early to mid-June, and have several months to get ready for training camp. Hopefully this will be a minor blip on his radar, all things considered, and we’ll see him at full speed ahead when he’s back in town this September.

Update: Here’s the team’s official statement.
