Columbus Blue Jackets trade Markus Nutivaara to Florida Panthers for Cliff Pu

Pu played 10 games in the AHL last season

The Columbus Blue Jackets announced a trade on Thursday afternoon, sending Markus Nutivaara to the Florida Panthers for right wing prospect Cliff Pu.

Nutivaara had two years left on his deal carrying a $2.7 million cap hit per year. Nutivaara had fallen out of favor with the team, projecting as just a fifth or sixth defenseman in a crowded defensive group.

Pu is signed for one more year on his ELC and will carry a cap hit of $745,000.

This opens up more cap room for Jarmo on the eve of free agency. Stay tuned.
