2020-21 Season Review

Alexandre Texier set a career-high in games played (49) and points (15) in 2021. He scored four goals with 11 assists, and these are all numbers you’d like to see spikes in going forward. Based on how the 2021 season was starting out, Texier was looking to be a goal threat with tallies in three straight games — inside the first four games of the season — against the Nashville Predators and Detroit Red Wings. He had four points in those three games, but then points became tough to come by throughout the long haul.

2021-22 Season Outlook

Corey Pronman of The Athletic wrote about the Blue Jackets pipeline (NHL Pipeline Rankings: No. 13 Columbus Blue Jackets accelerate rebuild with recent additions) on Wednesday. Per Pronman, Texier graded out as a below-average to above-average NHLer across skating, puck skills, hockey sense, and compete. I’m not sure how they grade ‘compete,’ but anyway he goes on to say Texier has a very high skill level but might be a bottom-six forward due to his size and average speed. Unless his puck game pops, and he did talk about his ability to make plays through sticks and legs.
