Blue Jackets Sign Nathan Gerbe

The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed Nathan Gerbe to a one-year, two-way deal for the remainder of the 2017-18 season. Upon signing the contract, Gerbe was assigned to the Cleveland Monsters.

The veteran 5’5” center will provide much needed depth at the position for the Jackets’ organization. He is infectiously energetic, agile on the ice, and not afraid to take a hit from guys a foot taller. Gerbe is a phenomenal playmaker and stickhandler. Being in the right place at the right time is something he excels at during the game. When needed Gerbe is a great agitator.

He also uses his stature to sneak up on the opposition and fly under the radar.

Gerbe has been playing for Geneve-Servette HC for the past two seasons. In 45 games with Geneve-Servette, he tallied 35 points in the form of 13 goals and 22 assists.

Most of his professional career was spent in the NHL playing for the Buffalo Sabres and Carolina Hurricanes. Over 394 NHL games, he tallied 58 goals and 80 assists.
