Blue Jackets Sign Mark Letestu to One-Year, Two-Way Deal

The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed 33-year-old center Mark Letestu to a one-year two-way, NHL/AHL contract, the club announced on Thursday.

CapFriendly reported the terms as $750,000 at the NHL level and $300,000 in the AHL ($350,000 guaranteed).

Fan favorite Letestu has played 265 games with Columbus over his nine-year career, totaling 45 goals and 59 assists. Letestu signed with the Edmonton Oilers after for the 2015-16 season and was traded to Columbus at last year’s trade deadline. He picked up a goal and three assists in 20 games last year, averaging 12:10. What a goal it was, in his first game back:

The Florida Panthers had cut Letestu after inviting the veteran to camp on a PTO.

The Blue Jackets seem set at center between Pierre-Luc Dubois, Alexander Wennberg, Brandon Dubinsky and Riley Nash, but this move adds another pivot to the pile. This club and player just can’t stay away from each other, can they?
