2023-24 Season

In his second season as the primary starter for the Cleveland Monsters, Jet Greaves improved his record to 3-12-4 (from 19-16-5), his save percentage to .910 (from .899), and lowered his GAA from 3.08 to 2.93. His numbers improved even more in the Calder Cup Playoffs, with a 2.17 GAA and .926 save percentage in 13 games.

Greaves also got 9 appearances in Columbus. The 3-6-0 record isn’t impressive (consider the team, though), but his 3.49 GAA and .908 save percentage are good compared to the other goalies.

Over the last two seasons, let’s compare Greaves (albeit in a small sample) against the other incumbent goalies:

2024-25 Outlook

Unfortunately, Greaves is the only one of those three who is still waivers exempt, so he will again be the starter in Cleveland. Tarasov and Merzlikins will split duties in Columbus. Elvis has three years left on his contract and needs to play better before another team would be willing to trade for him. Tarasov has one year remaining on his contract and will be a restricted free agent next summer. Greaves, meanwhile, signed a new contract this summer that becomes a one-way deal in 2025-26. Could he be in Columbus full-time that season?

Until then, history says that Tarasov and Elvis could each miss time with injury, so Greaves will be in line to get some spot starts.
