Boone Jenner Out With Broken Hand

It never rains but it pours. The projected 1st line winger is out for 4-6 weeks with a broken hand after taking a shot off the hand in practice.

Whomever is playing with Metropolitan Division voodoo dolls can quit it, now.

What appeared to be a relatively minor problem yesterday has been revealed as a major headache for GM Jarmo Kekalainen and Jackets fans alike. Boone Jenner left practice on Sunday after taking a shot off the hand, but it was termed day to day. Unfortunately, it seems we're not going to be that lucky - Aaron Portzline of the Dispatch is reporting that Jenner's hand is broken, and he is likely to miss 4-6 weeks. If we're lucky, maybe he's ready to go for the home and home season against Carolina the first weekend of November. If not? Well, who knows?

At this point the entire projected first line is either waiting for a new contract or IR. That's great for giving guys like Alexander Wennberg and Marko Dano an opportunity, but not so much for being competitive. About the only good news is that almost every other Metro team is missing major pieces too.

(Oh, and in case you're wondering, Porty did confirm the organization and Johansen's agent are talking, but I wouldn't hold your breath...)
