Blue Jackets Select Pierre-Luc Dubois Third Overall in 2016 NHL Entry Draft

The Jackets defied conventional wisdom and took Dubois over Puljujarvi

Who saw THAT coming?

With the third pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, the Jackets selected Pierre-Luc Dubois out of Quebec.

Expected to be picked in the middle to late top ten, Pierre-Luc Dubois instead will be a Jacket. The 6’2", 201 pound centerman will be expected to lead a thin position on the roster.

Dubois had 42 goals and 57 assists in 62 games with Cape Breton in Major Junior Hockey last season.

Here is a link to the Cannon's scouting report of Dubois.

On his 18th birthday, Dubois was surprisingly picked over Finnish wing Jesse Puljujarvi. Widely considered to be part of the "Big Three" heading into the draft, the Jackets passed on the winger to help shore up a lack of depth and talent at center.

More to come on this developing story.
