Blue Jackets Major Junior and College Prospect Playoff Update

The 2010 CHL playoffs are underway, and of the Jackets’ six prospects playing in the CHL, five made the playoffs. Kyle Neuber-future enforcer- was traded to the Sarnia Sting mid-season. The Sting were the worst team in the OHL this season, and didn’t qualify for the playoffs. Neuber’s junior career has come to an end, and I look for him to join Syracuse for the rest of the season. His final numbers are 5 goals, 5 assists for 10 points in 60 games played. He went minus-16 and put up 188 penalty minutes- mostly fighting majors. Here’s a look at the five prospects who’s team did qualify for the post-season:

The NCAA Hockey tournament, a 16-team, single-elimination bracketed tournament is set to start this Friday. Of the twelve CBJ prospects playing college hockey, seven are taking part in the tournament. Jake Hansen, a third round pick of Columbus and a member of the Minnesota Golden Gophers, won’t be taking part. The Gophers finished a disappointing 7th in the WCHA. Another WCHA team, the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs, also won’t be in the tournament. Prospect Drew Olson is a member of that team. Teddy Ruth and his Notre Dame squad finished 9th in the CCHA and won’t be participating-ditto for Thomas Larkin (Colgate), and Allen York (RPI). Here are the seven prospects who are taking part:
