On Tuesday afternoon, the Columbus Blue Jackets announced contract extensions for three players: forwards Lukas Sedlak and Markus Hannikainen, and defenseman Scott Harrington.
All three players were set to be restricted free agents at the end of the season, and each deal is for 2 years.
Sedlak and Harrington will be eligible for exposure in the expansion draft, as each have at least 3 years of professional experience and are currently under contract.
Sedlak has been a pleasant surprise this year as the fourth line center. Recently he was given more minutes on the penalty kill. He has 7 goals and 6 assists 56 games. Hannikainen has gotten very familiar with I-71 as he has been a frequent emergency recall from Cleveland. He has 1 goal and 1 assist in 10 games with Columbus this season. Harrington was acquired last summer for former first round pick Kerby Rychel, but has played sparingly this season, serving as a reserve defenseman. He has 1 goal and 2 assists with a +3 rating in 16 games.
