Blue Jackets Buy Out Fedor Tyutin

The longtime Jackets blue liner has seen his time in Columbus come to an end

In a fairly expected move today, the Columbus Blue Jackets bought out veteran defenseman Fedor Tyutin.

Tyutin had 2 years, $8.75 million left on his deal before being bought out. The total buyout cost, $5,833,333 million, will be spread over the next 4 seasons, resulting in an annual cap hit of $1,458,333.

As far as annual savings go, the Jackets will save $3,291,667 this season, and $2,541,667 in 2017-18.

Tyutin had played with the Blue Jackets since 2008-09. In his time here, he amassed 553 games played. He registered 39-146-185, with a -22 rating over his time here to go along with 351 PIM.

In addition to opening up salary cap space, this also removes a No Movement Clause from the team, freeing up an addition protection slot for the upcoming expansion draft.
