Blue Jackets and Riley Nash agree on three-year deal

Yeah, not that other R. Nash. On first day of free agency around the NHL, the Jackets ink the other former Bruin.

On the first day of NHL free agency, you’ve been scrolling through social media refreshing the time lines every 30 seconds hoping for something, anything regarding the Columbus Blue Jackets and a move or two.

Well, the first one to impact the Jackets in a positive way is the addition of forward Riley Nash, a reported 3-year, $2.75 million pact.

The 29-year-old center will undoubtedly bring depth to the position and offensive side of the puck, following the other forward departures of Matt Calvert to the Avalanche and Thomas Vanek to the Red Wings. In 2017-18, Nash played 76 games with the Bruins, potting a career-high 15 goals, 26 assists, and 41 points.

In nine playoff games for Boston, Nash had one goal and one assist.

I think Jackets fans will appreciate the kind of production Nash brings to the club for the value Jarmo Kekäläinen signed him for. Stay tuned to The Cannon for more offseason coverage.
