Bizarro Game Day Matchup #25: Video Blue Jackets at Video Flames

The Video Blue Jackets were back in action today, continuing their Fake Road Trip in Western Canada. I wish I could be proud of this effort, but while it was a win, I simply can’t ignore the fact that I took my foot off the pedal.

With some help from some fishy AI.

Yeah, I’m making excuses. It felt like what Bill Simmons used to call the “No [Bleep]ing Way” game, in which your computer’s AI decides that there’s just no [bleep]ing way you’re winning this game. I won’t spoil it. Wait until you see how this game unfolds. It sincerely highlights the importance of special teams. Wow.

The important thing is we got the W. March on. Video after the jump followed by some game notes. Enjoy!

3rd Period

Final: Blue Jackets 6, Flames 4 – Game Notes:

  • Three Stars: 3. Olli Jokinen, 2. Rick Nash, 1. Vinny Prospal
  • I made a more concerted effort to set up scoring chances. I felt like I was rewarded early on. As for the third period, I kind of want to block out the first five minutes. But, I felt like the Video Jackets rallied from adversity, and re-seized the momentum when they needed to.
  • I was having some controller issues from time to time. So, when you see a Jackets player pick up the puck and fake like he’s going to drill a slapshot, and just stand there in that pose, that’s on the controller. Stupid mimicking technology.
  • My passing needs work.
  • A win is a win is a win. Stop snickering at my play.

Enjoy the game!
