If not for the team’s offensive drought in March, Marchenko certainly would have been a point-per-game player for the first time in his career. Last season, we saw that Marchenko had the potential to establish himself as a legitimate first-line player. This season, we saw it come to fruition.
Perhaps he was just ready to pop, or maybe it was Dean Evason or Sean Monahan. Perhaps it was a combination of all of those things. He was arguably the most consistent forward night in and night out and ended the season with a whopping +29, which was tied for 17th in the league.
Marchenko hit the 30-goal mark this season, a milestone almost no one is surprised he hit. The bigger question may be this: How high can he go? As this team matures and as players like Fantilli and Johnson come into their own, Marchenko’s ceiling could go even higher.

Marchy is a fan favorite, known for his charming smile and happy-go-lucky attitude. He’s also a nightmare on the ice. After several difficult years as Blue Jacket fans, it was great to see several players take a big step forward, and Kirill Marchenko led the pack.
