I was surprised to see that Harris played 33 games this season. It seems like he played less than that. He was mainly unnoticeable when in the lineup. However, when he was noticed, it was often for the wrong reasons. The majority of the pair combinations with Harris were a disaster. At 5v5, when playing with Jack Johnson, Werenski, Severson, or Provorov, his CF% was below 40. The only deployable pairing was with Gudbranson, with a CF% of 48.

Contract
Harris is an arbitration-eligible RFA this summer. It wouldn’t be surprising if the Jackets didn’t extend a qualifying offer.
High Point
He scored his only goal against his former team, Montreal, on Dec. 23.
Low Point
In 18 of the 33 games he played, Harris was on the ice for less than 12 minutes. Evason didn’t trust him in most of the games he played, which begs the question: Why did he play as many games as he did?

It’s disappointing that the only asset we received back in the Laine trade was a dud. At this point, as a leftie, Christiansen, Svozil, and Knazko should all be ahead of Harris in the pecking order. Furthermore, it seems like it wouldn’t be hard to find a cheap UFA that would offer more valuable minutes than Harris. Unless Waddell is fine with him ending up in Cleveland, I doubt we’ll see Harris in the Blue Jackets organization next season.
