What started out as a fairly typical season for a promising goalie prospect ended with a bang. It’s impossible to think of the finish to the year without first and foremost talking about Jet Greaves. Jet brought life to a rapidly fading Jackets club that appeared to be dead in the water. Ultimately the playoff bid fell short, but that cannot be blamed on Jet.
The plan was to let Tarasov backup Elvis while Jet got more reps in Cleveland, but the clear distrust of Tarasov allowed for Jet to get more starts than were likely planned. Jet didn’t set the world on fire in his first stint but if we can see more of the late season Jet it could become something special.

Contract
Greaves agreed to a 2 year contract this past summer with an AAV of 812.5K. He will be entering the final year of that contract with the interesting note that this season the contract is a one-way deal. This does not mean he cannot go down to the AHL, but he would not receive a reduced salary if he played in Cleveland like he did in the recent past.
High Point
Clearly the high point was the April run. Called up on April 10th after an Elvis injury, Jet helped resurrect the nearly dead playoff hopes of the Blue Jackets with a 5 game winning steak featuring 2 shutouts and a total of 4 goals against.
Low Point
The December call-up for Greaves started out well against the Caps, but the next 3 games were his worst of the season. Jet allowed 4 goals against in each of the games against Anaheim, Tampa, and Montreal with the Anaheim performance being the worst statistically.
Report Card
A
Small sample size, but what a sample size it turned out to be. Whether or not Jet can produce similar numbers in a long season or after teams have had a chance to scout him is certainly a question, but the ride was fun. Jet has a calm and controlled play style that works well when paired with his in-crease agility and puck tracking. Of the three goalies we saw this year, he has displayed by far the best rebound control and does an excellent job of freezing pucks. I’m excited to see Jet on the main squad this upcoming season.
