The Blue Jackets are heading to Buffalo with a lineup that will likely look very similar come opening night. After the young squad got routed in Detroit, we will finally get a good look at what this team will look like for the 2021-2022 season.
Blue Jackets
Cole Sillinger and Yegor Chinakhov are still skating with the NHL squad, for now. The two youngsters will have their best chance yet at proving they belong in the NHL. Sillinger is getting moved down a line, but will still have a chance to play with two talented wingers. The line containing both Emil Bemstrom and Chinakhov has the potential to be dangerous as well.
One notable absence from this lineup is Alexandre Texier. Over the weekend, he had been skating in between Patrik Laine and Jakub Voracek, but so far there has been no word as to why he’s absent from tonight’s lineup.

Sabres
Controversy and trades have been the name of the game in Buffalo this summer. The most notable change is no Jack Eichel, who failed his training camp physical after refusing fusion surgery. Eichel’s absence and Sam Reinhart’s trade to Florida leaves two gapping holes in their top six.
