In his Blue Jackets career, Jenner has amassed 530 games played, 121 goals and 119 assists. The former second round pick becomes the seventh captain in team history. Last season, Jenner posted eight goals and nine assists for the club.
He succeeds Foligno who had served as captain of the club for the previous six seasons.
The team also announced that Zach Werenski, Oliver Bjorkstrand, and Gustav Nyquist will serve as alternates this season. Werenski has previously served as an alternate captain for the team, while Bjorkstrand and Nyquist are expected to take bigger roles as the team transitions to a new era.
