2021 Player Review: Free (Kevin) Stenlund!

Kevin Stenlund’s next NHL game will be his 69th career game! Nice.

When it comes to Stenlund, he seems to be a guy who does what you want on the ice but never really gets the opportunity to stick for the Columbus Blue Jackets. Since entering the league in 2018-19 he’s never played more than 32 NHL games in a season. Then he plays and seems to find his way onto the scoresheet or doing something productive. Check out all our tweets on Stenlund.

2021 Stats

Games played: 32
Goals: 5
Assists: 5
Points: 10
Plus/minus: -4
PIM: 8
5v5 CF%: 48.7%
5v5 FF%: 48.4%

Contract Status

His previous AAV was $925,000 with a cap hit $864,166. But then yesterday the RFA came to a contract for the upcoming season! Also could Stenlund be left unexposed for the upcoming Seattle Kraken expansion draft? Now that he’s signed for 2021-22 and he is among the forwards that played at least 27 games last season, he fits the criteria for exposure.

High Point

In Stenlund’s first four games of the season he strung together five points (two goals, three assists) in four consecutive games.

Low Point

Stenlund was dinged for a -3 April 10 against the Chicago Blackhawks and he only played 8:01 for the game. He suffered an upper body injury Jan. 26 against the Florida Panthers and missed four games.
