The third of a 14 part series of quotes and interviews I had stored on my voice recorder which never saw the light of day.
This week’s Throwback Thursday is a compilation of quotes from two different post game pressers where a player scored their first goal with the Cleveland Monsters.
Aaron Palushaj scored his first goal with the Monsters 46 seconds into the second game of the 2015-16 season to help power the Monsters to a 3-1 win over the Rockford IceHogs. While, Liam Foudy scored his first two professional goals when the Monsters took down the Syracuse Crunch, 3-0, to move onto the second round of the 2019 Calder Cup Playoffs.

Elaine Shircliff : So you’re new to the team and new to the city. Behind us in the press box area, you had like a whole fan club. So how does it feel to like, know that you have this whole fan club now and you just came out today and you just owned it.
Aaron Palushaj: Yeah, it’s nice I mean I don’t know how many of those are family members but I played here for several years now and got to know some of the some of the home game fans. They have probably heckled me when I was on other teams but it’s nice to be close to home and it’s a great city great fans. We also have a great facility here. It’s always nice when you win too. So, it’s a big weekend for us and we’re just excited we were able to come up with four points.
Eli Mooneyham: Obviously for the goal. What’s going through your head?
AP: It’s nice. Especially early in the game we get the guys going early. We had a quick turnaround from last night’s game so I just wanted to get on the board quick. It was a little bit of sloppy game but we stuck with it.
Elaine Shircliff: How do you see that team chemistry working out with the team? Even though it’s only two games into the season it seems like it’s there.
AP: Yeah, I mean i think it’s only gonna get better but it’s great. We have great camaraderie in the room. We really care for each other in the short period of time since I’ve been here. So I think when you have a group like that it makes it a lot more fun to win and a lot easier to one.

Elaine Shircliff : Let us start with you kicking off your professional career getting two goals in a playoff game. Kind of talk about that.
Liam Foudy: It was pretty cool. I got bumped up in the lineup. I was playing with Dalps and Mac. They’re pretty good.
I got out there and the first one was a nice little backward pass and I got it past the goaltender. So, that felt good.
The second one, Sonny gave me a nice pass in the slot and I was lucky enough to put it in.
ES : How do you think you’re adjusting to the AHL from the OHL? You played in playoffs there and now you’re playing in playoffs here. What’s that like?
LF: The guys are just a lot older here and stronger. so they battle a lot harder and that’s the biggest difference I’ve noticed so far.
ES: Are you looking forward to playing in the next round against the Marlies?
LF: Yeah, definitely. Being from Toronto, that’s pretty cool. I was growing up watching them and going to some games. So playing them will be a lot of fun.
ES: How was it coming into the crowd in Cleveland. Syracuse was a little bit smaller.
LF: Yeah, a little bit bigger is definitely louder than when I’m used to. So, having all the fans behind us like that stuff. It’s been nice
