Gamethread: Lightning at Blue Jackets

Lots of news to catch up on before the game:

• Seth Jones is on the IR with a broken ankle and is out indefinitely. Still waiting to learn if surgery will be necessary.
• Cam Atkinson is out tonight with a lower body injury.
• In Cam’s place on the wing will be the NHL debut of Liam Foudy. He’s up on emergency recall and will return to the London Knights after the game. He will wear #19.
• Gabriel Carlsson was recalled from the Cleveland Monsters to replace Jones but Scott Harrington will return to the lineup instead. Ugh. Zach Werenski will play with Markus Nutivaara on the top pair.
• The Lightning have their share of injuries as well. Steven Stamkos is day-to-day with a lower body injury and will not play tonight.
• Our offense lucks out in not having to face Andrei Vasilevskiy tonight. Instead they face the backup, our old friend Curtis McElhinney.
• Former Minnesota Wild GM Paul Fenton has joined the Blue Jackets’ scouting team for the remainder of the season.
• Elvis Merzlikins was named the NHL’s First Star of the Week thanks to two shutouts in three starts. He starts his third game in four nights tonight.
