The defending champion St. Louis Blues play host to the league’s best and brightest at the 2020 All-Star Weekend. The Columbus Blue Jackets are represented for the third time by defenseman Seth Jones. He sat down with the media yesterday:

Tonight, Jones will participate in the Hardest Shot contest. He defeated Victor Hedman head-to-head in that event in 2017 in LA, and finished third behind John Carlson and Brent Burns in San Jose last year. His opponents this time are:

Mark Giordano, Calgary Flames
Shea Weber, Montreal Canadiens
Victor Hedman, Tampa Bay Lightning
Elias Pettersson, Vancouver Canucks
John Carlson, Washington Capitals

He will also join the rest of the Metropolitan Division skaters in the Save Streak. Last season, he scored three goals on four attempts.

The full event schedule is as follows:

• Bridgestone NHL Fastest Skater
• Bud Light NHL Save Streak
• Honda NHL Accuracy Shooting
• Elite Women’s 3-on-3 presented by adidas
• Enterprise NHL Hardest Shot
• Gatorade NHL Shooting Stars

The women’s game, featuring all star teams from the US and Canada, should be a thrill to watch if it’s even half as exciting as their 2018 Olympic Gold Medal match. You can read more about their rosters and the match format at our sister site, The Ice Garden.

The other new event is the Shooting Stars event, where players (including some of the women) will shoot at targets on ice from a 30 foot high platform behind the goal. Sounds like Top Golf, but hockey. Could be fun?

You can find the event rules and lists of participants here.

This post will serve as an thread for all events from the weekend. Stay tuned to The Cannon for a full recap after Saturday, and live tweets from @cbjcannon.
