Welcome to another edition of Cannon Blasts. Your weekly round up of Columbus Blue Jackets and Ohio sports links.

Since our last Cannon Blasts, we’ve dropped two shorter episodes of “The Cannon Cast”.

On episode 22, we discuss Sergei Bobrovsky’s recent interview with the Russian media about his view on the drama of last season, Blue Jackets’ point predictions, and the most historical sports moment we have seen live.

Episode 23 brought us our favorite John Tortorella moments and we built our All-time all-star team.

We also decided to have a little bit of fun this summer and will be releasing articles that make you smile more frequently. The first round of fun articles consisted of pondering which Ohio professional (major league) team will win a championship first and trying to draw the CBJ logo better than Trey Fix-Wolansky and Andrew Peeke.

Another fun article we dropped was the best post-game moments from Torts.

One of our writers took us down memory lane to discuss the best chant Nationwide Arena has ever belted out.

Who is elite and does it really matter? To help answer this question, one of our new writers broke down the offense for us.

The question “How far do the Blue Jackets stand to fall?” is answered by analyzing the over/unders for the team’s playoff chances.

The battle for the keeper of the crease is going to be an interesting one. So, who is it going to be? Joonas Korpisalo or Elvis Merzlikins?

Cleveland Monsters

How did the Monsters fare during the start of free agency? Our Monsters writer covers that for you here.

Since that article dropped, ,the Monsters signed forward Brett Gallant to a two-year AHL only contract.

We kicked off the defense portion of our 2018-19 Season Reviews with Garret Cockerill. More of these will be posted as the summer goes on and will likely be sprinkled into our Top 25 Under 25 as well.

Sports News Around Ohio

Let’s get the awful news out of the way.

Trevor Bauer was traded last night to the Cincinnati Reds. One of the returns in the trade is Yasiel Puig who happened to get right into the middle of last nights’ Reds vs Pittsburgh Pirates brawl.

For those who are impressed a fight broke out during a baseball game, don’t be. Actually, the number of people who can’t land a punch is pretty impressive. Also, if you watch the background you can see Melky Cabrera coming in hot with a bat. I’m not sure what Cabrera thought was going to happen once he hit the epicenter of the brawl but apparently Cabrera don’t play.

Speaking of fights, a few of the players got into a fight during Cleveland Browns’ training camp. Coach Kitchen made EVERYONE run as a punishment.

In September, as part of Fantennial Weekend, the Browns are unveiling a statue of former quarterback Otto Graham.

The Cincinnati Bengals got into a war of words with Dayton Schools after A.J. Green was injured on their turf during training camp practice.

Kevin Love decided to turn down Team USA as they head into the World Cup.

Aboubacar Keita had quite the game against the Mexican U-20.

Massive report broke down Pedro Santo’s goal against the New York Red Bulls. I’m not the biggest fan of soccer but I can get behind this goal.
