Guess what day it is!?

It’s hump day AND Cannon Blasts Day! Yay!

Typically the week after the start of free agency is a bit slow. However, we’ve come to learn there is no real off-season when you cover the Columbus Blue Jackets. There is always something going down.

On July 5th, the Blue Jackets and Scott Harrington agreed to a new three-year deal. Yes folks, you read that right. Scott Harrington received a three-year deal.

While we were trying to digest the Harrington contract, news broke that Sonny Milano had been arrested in New York City.

We broke down those two bits of news in our latest episode of “The Cannon Cast”.

Get to know the new guy, Gustav Nyquist, here.

As the season draws close, the Blue Jackets have made it very clear that “the children are our future”. Our site manager, Pale Dragon, breaks down what the prospects bring to the table.

We kicked off “Trade Proposal” week at The Cannon.

If you aren’t a fan of Scott Harrington and love women’s soccer, you will thoroughly enjoy MrSwift13’s trade proposal.

Pale Dragon’s trade proposal basically set the whole city of Toronto on fire.

Cleveland Monsters

We continued our Cleveland Monsters season reviews with Jean-Francois Berube.

The AHL released the Home Openers for the 2019-20 season. The Monsters will play their first game in the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on October 11th against the Syracuse Crunch. They won’t be playing in anyone’s home opener.

Good news! Brad Thiessen is training extra hard for the home opener.

The full 2019-20 schedule will be released at 3pm on July 10th.

Sports News Around Ohio

It was All-Star week in Cleveland. So, this whole section is dedicated to the MLB All-Star.

Friday was the Twenty One Pilots concert. Let me tell you, IT WAS INCREDIBLE!! So incredible the earth literally moved under our feet.

If you don’t believe me, check out this rave review from the Cleveland Plain Dealer, here.

The Home Run Derby was lit. Joc Pederson and Vladimir Guerro Jr put on a show for Cleveland in the second round. They tied three ties before Guerro moved on to the next round.

It’s a shame neither won the derby.

JR Smith did JR Smith things and went shirtless in the Celebrity Softball Game. Is it really a monumental event in Cleveland if JR Smith isn’t running around shirtless?

The Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds pitchers shone bright at the All-Star Game.

Luis Castillo had a perfect inning with two strikeouts. While, Shane Bieber had a 1-2-3 inning and was named ASG MVP.

The ASG had a real tear jearker of a moment during the “Stand Up 2 Cancer” segment. Indians fans held up signs and posters honoring Cookie Carrasco, who was diagnosed with Leukemia. Then, Indians players walked out together with Cookie in the middle. Cue Tears.

Since I made you all cry with that last video, here are a two that will make you laugh and smile.

Right now the “bottle cap challenge” is going viral. So, of course, the Blue Jackets had to get in on the fun. This time they had their cute little pups take part in the viral challenge.

Markus Nutivaara and his dog challenged Alexander Wennberg and Lexi.

They were up to the challenge and completed it with ease.

*note * Turn up the sound so you can hear Wennberg’s girlfriend celebrating in slow motion.
