The Columbus Blue Jackets righted the ship for the time being after the trade deadline with Thursday night’s win over the Philadelphia Flyers. Now, the Blue Jackets must continue to take care of business on home ice as the they play host to the Edmonton Oilers for today’s matinee matchup.

The Oilers may not be deep, but they feature two premier players in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl who are capable of winning a game on their own. The Blue Jackets will have to clean up their defensive mistakes and limit odd man rushes to come away with the victory today.

Player to Watch

Connor McDavid

The former MVP is on a four game point scoring streak and is third in the league in scoring behind Patrick Kane and Nikita Kucherov. He comes into the game with 87 points and averaging 22:58 per night. He will do everything for the Oilers and is a threat to score every shift he is on the ice.

Jackets Notes

Boone Jenner did not practice yesterday, called a maintenance day ... Ryan Dzingel has two points in his first two games in Columbus ... Seth Jones now has the franchise record for overtime goals, breaking Rick Nash’s club record ... The Jackets are 8-2-1 in overtime/shootouts this season ... Oliver Bjorkstrand scored his third goal in four games against the Flyers ... Columbus has allowed five power play goals in its last 24 games

The Other Bench

Jesse Puljujarvi, picked 4th behind Pierre-Luc Dubois, is finished for the season after having hip surgery earlier this week ... Sam Gagner scored in Edmonton’s last outing, a win over the Ottawa Senators ... Koskinen has started Edmonton’s last nine games ... Draisaitl is on a nine game point streak
