Columbus Blue Jackets
It was quite the busy week for the Blue Jackets.
Unfortunately, things did not start off on the good foot for the Jackets as they lost to the New York Islanders.
HOWEVER!!! The Blue Jackets scored SEVEN goals against the Boston Bruins on March 12th. Panarin fought someone AND BOONE JENNER HAD A HATTIE!! Holy Cow was it the game we all needed to see.
The winning kept coming when Officer Bobrovsky stood down the Carolina Hurricane and locked up a shutout.
But in true Jackets fashion, you can’t get too happy. On Saturday, the Bruins got their revenge with an overtime win. Brad Marchand with the game winner. sigh.
The Cleveland Monsters started and finished their week with some new faces. First they signed Derek Barach, former Mercyhurst Captain, and Greg Wolfe, Toledo Walleye forward, to 25-game PTOs. Garret Cockerill was recalled from the Reading Royals (ECHL) due to Adam Clendening being injured against the Belleville Senators. Finally, one of the prospects you’ve all been waiting for, Alexandre Texier made an appearance with the Monsters on Saturday against the Rockford IceHogs.
On Wednesday, the Monsters played the Milwaukee Admirals in a school day game. Fans at UW Milwaukee Panther Arena were pleased with the outcome as the Admirals skated away with the 2-1 win in regulation.
Kole Sherwood lifted the Monsters to a 3-2 win over the Chicago Wolves on Friday, March 15th. He scored two, almost three, of their goals.
The Rockford IceHogs got the best of the Monsters in overtime on Saturday night.
Despite losing twice, the Monsters playoff hopes are still alive and living well. The Utica Comets and Bellevile Senators had a few missteps allowing the Monsters to creep up the leader board. They currently sit 5th in the North with 68 points. The Senators are hanging out in the last playoff spot with 72 points. Four points away from a playoff spot isn’t too bad.
They’re not dead yet.
