Opponent’s Blog: Stanley Cup of Chowder
Boston Bruins, 42-18-9, 93 points, 2nd Atlantic, 2nd East
@
Columbus Blue Jackets, 38-28-3, 79 points, 4th Metro, 8th East
Columbus was shut out for the first time this season in December, the Washington Capitals game in which the Columbus Blue Jackets were dumped 4-0 on home ice. The team has been shut out five more times this season since that game on December 8, 2018. Last night was the third time since the trade deadline the team failed to get on the score sheet. For all the talk of improved offensive prowess, the lines are failing to click consistently at the most critical time of the season.
The Boston Bruins are in town tonight, and the Jackets need to beat that juggernaut to make up for last night’s disappointing result on the road. Here’s hoping they respond as necessary.
Player to Watch
Brad Marchand
Face licker extraordinaire, Brad Marchand has been on fire this season, on Twitter as well as on the ice. He leads the Bruins in assists, points, and penalty minutes. He has developed into arguably the best left wing in hockey, anchoring one of the best lines in the National Hockey League. Marchand makes his impact felt every shift, and will be a force to watch on the ice tonight.
Jackets Notes
The Columbus Blue Jackets have scored two goals in nine periods against the New York Islanders this season ... Sergei Bobrovsky has only allowed two goals in his last two starts ... Artemi Panarin has just 0-2-2 in his last six games ... Seth Jones played 27:10
Blue Jackets haven't scored a goal in their last 184:08 on the road.

They play their next two at home, but not easy vs. Boston on Tuesday.
They remain in 2nd wild card in East. Tied in points with Montreal, but own ROW tiebreak.
The Other Bench
Lee Stempniak was reassigned to Providence yesterday ... Boston saw a 19 game point streak end Sunday night in Pittsburgh ... David Pastrnak did not travel with the Bruins and will not play ... David Krejci has 6-10-16 in his last 13 games
