at

Philadelphia Flyers (4-3-1, 9 points, 6th Metro, 12th East)

After a thrilling come-from-behind victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday, the Blue Jackets look to notch another Metro division victory as they travel to Philadelphia to face the Flyers, also winners of their last two.

Player to Watch

David Savard

Tonight, Savy will play his 500th game as a Blue Jacket, becoming the eighth player to hit that mark with this franchise. The hirsute defenseman has never been considered a star player, but he has been a quiet, steady presence in the locker room and on the blue line. You rarely see him make a highlight reel play, like Seth Jones or Zach Werenski, but you rarely see him back a costly blunder, either. He has been around through many ups and downs: he made his debut during the awful 2011-12 season, and then was a key contributor to an historic playoff victory last spring. Hopefully he sticks around for greater team success.

Jackets Notes

Nick Foligno played his 500th game as a Blue Jacket on Thursday. Jeff Svoboda wrote about those two at BlueJackets.com ... Markus Nutivaara, who missed Thursday’s game, is still considered day-to-day. He did not practice yesterday ... Current team streaks: eight games decided by one goal, six games with a point earned, four overtime games, two wins.

The Other Bench

The Flyers beat the Blackhawks 4-1 in their last game on Thursday ... $50 million man Kevin Hayes has scored three goals on the season, including one in each of the last two games ... Veteran Brian Elliott has started the last two games, so expect young phenom Carter Hart to start tonight. After bursting on to the scene last season as a 20 year old, Hart has had a shaky start to this season. He is 2-2-1 with a 2.59 GAA and .890 SV%, vs. Elliott’s 2-1-0 record, 2.09 GAA, and .933 SV% ... Nolan Patrick, the second overall pick from 2017, has missed the entire season so far due to a migraine disorder. He is considered week-to-week ... Last night I recorded a quick podcast with Kelly Hinkle over at BSH. Look for it to drop some time this morning here.
