2019 NHL Skills Competition Recap: Seth Be Fast, Cam Be Quick, Our Two All Stars Are Oh So Slick

Hi boys:

Cam Atkinson participated in the NHL Fastest Skater competition tonight. He faced off with Mathew Barzal of the New York Islanders, Jack Eichel of the Buffalo Sabres, Miro Heiskanen of the Dallas Stars, Clayton Keller of the Arizona Coyotes, Connor McDavid of the Edmonton McDavids Edmonton Oilers, Elias Pettersson of the Vancouver Canucks, and Kendall Coyne of the USWNT.

In 2016, Dylan Larkin won the competition, setting the record with a 13.172. McDavid won the last two seasons.

Kendall Coyne Schofield got us started, and she was incredible. All the stick taps for the gold medal winner and the first female to compete in the NHL Skills Competition, she deserved her spot.

Cam Atkinson skated a lap in 14.152 as McDavid won the competition with a 13.378 lap.

Seth Jones ended Andre Vasilevskiy’s save streak with a nifty shootout move. He should shoot ahead of Alex Wennberg forever now, them’s the rules.

Oh, and Seth went three out of four in this competition, scoring triple the number of goals in this event that Wennberg has this season.

Seth Jones took part in the SAP Hardest Shot competition. In the competition, he faced off against John Carlson of the Washington Capitals, Brent Burns of the host San Jose Sharks, and Steven Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Seth’s first shot hit 99.4 MPH. After one round, he trailed only John Carlson’s 102.8 MPH shot. Seth’s second shot hit 95.1 MPH, and he finished third to Carlson and Burns.

Things happen.

The boys will compete in the All Star Game Saturday night at 8:00 EST.
