2019 Free Agency: Artemi Panarin leaving Columbus Blue Jackets for Metro rivals New York Rangers

Artemi Panarin, despite a late push from the Columbus Blue Jackets to sign the playmaker, has elected to leave for the New York Rangers.

And man, did Columbus try late to keep him.

Despite these late offers for large dollars, Panarin elected to move on from Columbus to the New York Rangers. John Davidson left, and in the end, he took Artemi Panarin with him.

Panarin was brought to Columbus in June 2017 in exchange for Anton Forsberg, Brandon Saad, and a fifth round pick. Panarin immediately slotted onto the top line and posted a Blue Jackets record five primary assists in one game en route to a CBJ record 82 points in 2017-18 (27-55-82).

Panarin bettered his own record in 2018-19 with a 28-59-87 season for the Jackets. In the playoffs, he posted 7-11-18 in 16 games to go along with his 169 regular season points. Panarin will return to Columbus on December 5, 2019 and February 14, 2020.

Thanks for everything you did for Columbus Artemi, and best of luck in New York.
