Cleveland Monsters; 13-22-4-3, 33 points, .393 win%, 7th Central, 15th West
Grand Rapids Griffins; 22-18-1-4, 49 points, .544 win%, 5th Central, 11th West
The Cleveland Monsters are entering “do or die” territory soon. All hope isn’t lost yet. They are still a few games behind most of the Central. Plus, the Monsters have all the right pieces for a successful season.
To make the playoffs this season a lot of things need to happen.
- With the exception of the Monsters, the Manitoba Moose need to continue winning against everyone in the Central. Preferably in regulation.
- The Pacific needs to beat everyone but the Monsters in the Central. Preferably in regulation.
- The Monsters need to string together a win streak. Preferably one which starts tonight.
Bearing that in mind, these next three games against the Grand Rapids Griffins are incredibly important.
Dominic Turgeon, Matt Puempel, Eric Tangradi, Colin Campbell, and Matt Lorito are scoring at a point per game pace in the series.
Carter Camper is the lone Monster who is scoring at a point per game pace against the Griffins.
Also, in the series, the Griffins are outscoring the Monsters 15-9. The Monsters have to start converting shots into goals. They also need to play a full 60 minutes of hockey. If not, the Griffins will be all over them like white on rice.
Markus Hannikainen is back with the Monsters tonight. He will likely be on a line with Carter Camper. While Zac Dalpe will probably center Alex and Terry Broadhurst.
Jeff Zatkoff will start in net tonight.
