NHL: Philadelphia Flyers at Columbus Blue Jackets Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

The Columbus Blue Jackets traveled east to take on the Philadelphia Flyers to try to break a two game skid. Here’s what went down.

First Period

Philadelphia was first one the board as the Blue Jackets were caught up in the offensive zone and Zach Werenski was forced to defend a 3 on 1 rush. Shortly after Claude Giroux’s opener, Seth Jones equalized the game and a Brandon Dubinsky tip gave the Jackets the lead. A Philadelphia goal was overturned for offsides and Sergei Bobrovsky withstood a flurry to give the Jackets a 2-1 lead at the first intermission.

Second Period

Despite several power play chances for both teams and some high quality chances, the score remained 2-1. Columbus led on the shot counter 25-10.

We avoided giving up five goals in the second period. Progress since Tuesday night.

Third Period

Boone Jenner was able to score on a feed from Artemi Panarin to make it a 3-1 game in favor of the Jackets. Travis Sanheim was able to cut the deficit to one with just over seven minutes to go. Minutes later, Sanheim again scored and was able to tie the game.

Overtime

Seconds into overtime, Cam Atkinson won a board battle and fed Seth Jones who was able to win it for Columbus.

Final

Columbus Blue Jackets 4 Philadelphia Flyers 3 (OT)
