Eager to put Thursday’s loss behind them, the Columbus Blue Jackets were back on the ice Friday night against the Vancouver Canucks, looking for a needed-win before their bye week.
Well, it was a nice thought.
1st Period
All-Star Seth Jones put Columbus on the board with his eighth, and 10th power play point at 4:33. Nick Foligno picked up the assist and has points in three of the last four games.

2nd Period
Columbus probably could have had a few more goals in the first period, as dictated by their pace of play, shots, and scoring chances. Well, the Canucks instead paced the second period.
[Insert dumpster fire gif]
First, it was Sven Baertschi, fed by the nifty no-look, backhand pass from Thomas Vanek. Then minutes later, it was Erik Gudbranson coming away with his first goal of the season. Brendan Gaunce scored on a literally broken stick, and Alexander Edler was credited with the fourth goal. Edler’s shot from the point bounced off the inside of Markus Nutivaara’s skate, just in front of Bobrovsky.
