Another two-way defenceman who excels on the power play is in the mix for the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. Noah Dobson of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan (QMJHL) is slated to go in the top 10.

Teams looking for a combination of offensive and defensive power will find use for him. Standing at 6’3”, 179 lbs, Dobson is a massive presence on the ice. He isn’t afraid to get physical below the blue line. Especially, when an opponent is in scoring position. If Dobson has the puck and a lane to the net, watch out. He has no qualms running over someone to get to the net.

Not only is his shot accurate, it is incredibly strong. One does not want to jump in front of a shot launched by Dobson. You might not make it out unscathed.

The 2018 draft is full of players who have a high hockey IQ. Dobson is on this list, as well. He has this uncanny ability to know what the opposition is going to do before they even know what they are going to do.

Due to his ability to adapt quickly to different systems and teammates, Dobson will fit well within any organization.

Scouting Reports

Offensively, he utilizes his keen sense of awareness to be in the right spot at the right time, every time. Soft hands and a deadly shot accentuate his ability to get creative, on occasion. Rock solid defensively, his strong positioning severely limits time and space for the opposition. – Curtis Joe – EliteProspects.com

Dobson does not give up any skill as he has a tremendous outlet passing ability, distributes the puck extremely well, and has an accurate shot. Skating is far from a liability as he has strong edge work, gap control, and can accelerate quickly to a high-end top gear. – Peter Harling – DobberProspects.com
