Today, is the second week of the 017-18 edition of “Throwback Thursday”. Before the season starts, I’ll review each series from last season. I figure 30 days out from the start of the season is a good time to give Monsters fans a refresher. Once the AHL season officially starts, I'll throw it way back and bless you with Cleveland hockey history.

Today, I bring you the nail biter which was the Texas Stars series.

Cleveland Monsters; 39-29-4-4, 86 points, .566 win%, 5th Central, 9th West

Texas Stars; 34-37-1-4, 73 points, .480 win%, 7th Pacific, 13th West

Series Record: 2-2-0-0 (H: 1-1-0-0; A: 1-1-0-0)

The Monsters started the year 2017 on the road. Unfortunately, they also started things off with a 4-2 loss to the Texas Stars.

In this game we saw Sonny Milano extend his goal streak to four games.

Thankfully, this loss was not indicative of what was to come for the Monsters. They would win the next game in a nail biting shootout.

On March 1st, Dillon Heatherington was traded to the Dallas Stars for Lauri Korpikoski. He was then assigned to the Texas Stars. Yet another beloved Monster sent to play against their friends within a few months.

The luck of the Irish did not shine upon the Monsters on Saint Patrick's Day. Due to a lack of energy heading into the second period, the Monsters found themselves shut out by the Stars.

The next night the Monsters came back with a fury and ended the series on a positive note.

Anton Forsberg started in net, as it was his bobblehead night. He then proceeded to allow three goals in the first period.

As you know, no lead is safe in Cleveland. The Monsters would go on to score six unanswered goals. One of which was Sonny Milano's trick shot off of Justin Peters' mask.

The Monsters and Stars play each other again this season. Look for Sonny Milano to bring even more of his phenomenal game to the ice.
