Matt Calvert did just about everything that was asked of him this year for Columbus, from tallying 10 goals to netting three short-handed scores and being apart of a penalty kill group that only allowed 12 power play goals.
If there's anything in the season stat-line that sticks out against Calvert, it's the low assist total, and thus, the low point total. Calvert's five assists came in for the second-lowest in his career (he had three helpers in 2011/12 in just 13 games).
Calvert will most likely be remembered in a negative light, after losing his stuff in the playoffs against Tom Kuhnhackl.
Now, I'm not saying what Calvert did was warranted or even smart. I'm just saying he was able to act upon how we all were feeling this post season. But still, bad Calvert.
However, there were some good times. Remember when he got seemingly taken out of the game by a puck to the face, only to come back and score the game winner against New York?
Of course you do. That was amazing!
Calvert has one year left on his contract and, while he isn't the biggest name the Jackets have, I wouldn't be shocked with whatever happens. if the CBJ keep him, you won't hear a lot of moans and groans from fans. If they decide to go in another direction, fans will wish him the best of luck and cheer for him in his next city.
