Cleveland Monsters (4) at Milwaukee Admirals (1)
Sonny Milano and Oliver Bjorkstrand powered the Cleveland Monsters to a 4-1 win over the Milwaukee Admirals.
The first goal came around five minutes into the first period when Milano created a turnover at his own blue line. He raced down the ice and backhanded the puck in the net behind Mazanec.
With six minutes left in the first period, Daniel Zaar passed the puck to Bjorkstrand who popped it into the net.
A minute later, Pendenza centers a pass to Milano who was situated below the right faceoff dot. Milano saw a wide open net and fired the puck in to extend the Monsters lead to 3-0.
A little over three minutes into the second period, Bjorkstrand stopped during a rush before firing on the net. He waited to see what kind of play the Admirals would form before scoring.
Derek Army drove the net on a rebound to put the Admirals on the board for the first time with five minutes left in the second period.
But Wait! There's More
- Yet again, Joe Pendenza played like his life depended upon it against his old squad.
- After being on injured reserve for 12 games, Daniel Zaar played like he didn't miss a single game.
- I really like the aggressive Sonny Milano that has been making an appearance in the past five games. Tonight he got into a shoving match and was ready to drop the gloves with Jimmy Oligny. He also started muscling through traffic, completed checks, and got a few extra hacks in during intense play. The boy is becoming a man in front of our eyes.
1st – Oliver Bjorkstrand (2g,0a)
2nd – Sonny Milano (2g, 0a)
3rd – Anton Forsberg (39 shots faced, 38 saves, TOI: 60:00)
The Cleveland Monsters hop on the bus after the game and head towards Des Moines. They will take on the Iowa Wild a little over 12 hours after they arrive. They are looking to redeem themselves after being swept this past weekend. Hopefully, the boys will get some rest on the six hour trip to Des Moines.
Friday and Sunday the Monsters will take on the Manitoba Moose in Cleveland.
