Cleveland Monsters (0) at Rockford IceHogs (2)
After a first period of tight play between the two teams, Rockford managed to get on the board 1:05 into the second period. Kyle Baun shot the puck through traffic. Anton Forsberg knocked it away. However, Forsberg became out of place leaving the net open. Tyler Motte scooped up the rebound and popped the puck into the open net.
The nail in the coffin for the Monsters came with 90 seconds to play in the game when Martin Lundberg fired on the empty net.
But Wait! There's More
- A short bench due to injuries and a suspension meant Blake Siebenaler played right wing for the second game in a row. He's a quite forward who doesn't make a lot of noise. However, it was nice for the Monsters to have a little extra muscle on the fourth line.
- The three new guys are already making their presence known. In the first period, Kyle Thomas had three shots on goal. Two of which I'm not sure how Glass stopped. Both Akim Aliu and Alex Petan spent the game trying to create play after play. There were a few times they were out of sync with the rest of the squad but that is to be expected.
- Paul Bittner stepped into Brett Gallant's role today. He outmuscled some big guys to help create plays and was ready to go against Michael Latta. The ref stepped in to stop the two from fighting. In retrospect, this was probably best as Latta has eight fighting majors this season.
- The incredible Joe Pendenza who played this past weekend was back again. He has really stepped up during the past few games by creating turnovers and consistently attacking the net.
1st – Jeff Glass (37 saves, 37 shots faced, TOI: 60:00)
2nd – Tyler Motte (1g, 0a)
3rd – Martin Lundberg (1g, 0a)
Jeff Glass (IceHogs) has two shutouts this season. Both were against the Monsters.
With this win, the IceHogs extend their point streak to seven games.
