For years Conor Timmins flew under the radar. Upon further inspection by the scouts, Timmins jumped from 266th to being slated to go in the first round.

Timmins ability to see through traffic makes his shot and passing deadly. Especially since Timmins excels at tape-to-tape passing. He shoots low and tight making it easy for teammates to deflect shots into the back of the net. Timmins stickwork is another check in the positive column. He is able to strip the opponent of the puck while remaining undetected.

Whether it be along the boards or in the corners, Timmins is great in battles for the puck. He uses his body to both create plays and stop plays from forming.

The Jackets organization needs a good mix of stay at home defensemen and two-way defenders. Timmins might be a piece of the Jackets’ defender puzzle.

Timmins plays in any situation for the Greyhounds. Despite being “only” 6’1” he plays with the physical intensity of someone more like 6’5”. He does not shy away from the physical battles in corners, along the boards or in front of his own goal. He can and does throw open ice hits. He’s even been seen taking a faceoff or two in his own zone a la Raymond Bourque. His plus-24 to date speaks volumes to his two-way game. – OHL Writers
